Letters of Inspiration
Toni Morrison; the acclaimed American author and Anti-Black Racist, before there was such a label; wrote an essay for The National titled, "No Place for Self Pity, No Room for Fear" in a response to a conversation she had with a friend during a time of despair.
In the article, Toni writes, "There is no time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for silence, no room for fear. We speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal." |
Toni recognized the need for artists to create during trying times in order to inspire others to act, to change and to heal.
